The Lagrangian-space Effective Field Theory of Large Scale Structures

We introduce a Lagrangian-space Effective Field Theory (LEFT) formalism for the study of cosmological large scale structures. Unlike the previous Eulerian-space construction, it is naturally formulated as an effective field theory of extended objects in Lagrangian space. In LEFT the resulting finite size effects are described using a multipole expansion parameterized by a set of time dependent coefficients and organized in powers of the ratio of the wavenumber of interest $k$ over the non-linear scale $k_{\rm NL}$. The multipoles encode the effects of the short distance modes on the long-wavelength universe and absorb UV divergences when present. There are no IR divergences in LEFT. Some of the parameters that control the perturbative approach are not assumed to be small and can be automatically resummed. We present an illustrative one-loop calculation for a power law universe. Notas sobre la presencia del endemismo ibérico Dasylabris egregia (Klug, 1835) (Hymenoptera, Mutillidae, Dasylabrinae) en Portugal

Mutillid wasps (Mutillidae) are widespread ectoparasitoid Hymenoptera, represented in Europe by at least 150 species and are characterized by extreme sexual dimorphism. One of the five Iberian species within the genus Dasylabris, D. egregia (Klug, 1835), was until recently known only from Spain. This short note focuses on the first three records of the species for Portugal, all from coastal Alentejo, including a new locality. Published data on its occurrence in Spain are also briefly summarized.Los mutílidos (Mutillidae), son una familia de himenópteros ectoparasitoides de amplia distribución, representados por al menos 150 especies en Europa y caracterizados por presentar dimorfismo sexual extremo. Una de las cinco especies ibéricas del género Dasylabris, D. egregia (Klug, 1835), era hasta hace poco únicamente conocida de España. Hoffmann-Infeld black hole solutions in Lovelock gravity

Five-dimensional black holes are studied in Lovelock gravity coupled to Hoffmann–Infeld nonlinear electrodynamics. It is shown that some of these solutions present a double peak behaviour of the temperature as a function of the horizon radius. This feature suggests that the evaporation process, though drastic for a period, leads to an eternal black-hole remnant. In fact, the form of the caloric curve corresponds to the existence of a plateau in the evaporation rate, which implies that black holes of intermediate scales turn out to be unstable. The geometrical aspects, such as the absence of conical singularity, the structure of horizons, etc are also discussed. Começa-se por expor o enquadramento teórico de base ao desenvolvimento de uma análise de viabilidade económica e financeira de um projeto de investimento. De seguida é elaborado um estudo ao modelo de negócio do projeto, de forma a determinar os pressupostos base, que por usa vez, estabelecem os mapas financeiros fundamentais à análise. Posteriormente é realizada a própria análise e devida avaliação, por meio de diferentes métodos de avaliação, por fim, conclui-se que o projeto em estudo é viável economicamente e financeiramente em ambas as óticas do projeto e do investidor.This study seeks to develop the following theme “Development of an Investment Project: Wellness Boutique Hotel”, this emerges within the scope of an internship carried out at Vanguard Sphere. Spatial and temporal aggregation of albatross chick mortality events in the Falklands suggests a role for an unidentified infectious disease

In the context of environmental change, determining the causes underpinning unusual mortality events of vertebrate species is a crucial conservation goal. This is particularly true for polar and sub-polar colonial seabirds, often immunologically naïve to new and emerging diseases. Here, we investigate the patterns of black-browed albatross (Thalassarche melanophris) chick mortality events unrelated to predation recorded between the 2004/05 and 2019/2020 breeding seasons in four colonies across the species range in the Falklands. The prevalence of these mortality events was highly variable across years, causing the death of between 3 and 40% of all chicks in the studied plots. With few exceptions, mortality was patchily distributed. Using clustering methodologies, we identified the spatio-temporal mortality clusters based on the nest locations and chick death date. Using generalised linear models and generalised additive mixed-effects models we found that chicks nearer the first mortality event were predicted to die before those in more distant nests. The probability of death increased with age and was highest for chicks close to nests where a chick had died previously. Our findings, along with the symptoms consistently exhibited by most deceased chicks in the study, strongly suggest the prevalence of a widespread infectious disease, potentially with a common aetiology, both in areas with regular and with very rare human presence. Understanding the causes driving these disease-related mortality events, which seem different from the outbreaks documented in the literature, is a conservation priority for the Falklands black-browed albatross population, which comprises over 70% of the species global population.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

O contributo das oficinas de gramática para a sedimentação de conhecimentos a nível da sintaxe: complementos direto e indireto

O presente relatório traduz-se numa proposta de intervenção baseada nas oficinas de gramática para a sedimentação de conhecimentos a nível da sintaxe. É um trabalho que tem por base a aprendizagem ativa pela descoberta e procura, essencialmente, que os alunos se envolvam num processo de descoberta pelas regras e estruturas linguísticas para, assim, poderem ter um papel ativo na construção das suas aprendizagens. Este trabalho foi levado a cabo no decorrer da prática educativa do Mestrado em Ensino do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e de Português e História e Geografia de Portugal no 2º Ciclo do Ensino Básico do ano letivo 2019/2020. A turma em estudo encontrava-se no 5º ano de escolaridade e os conteúdos explorados foram as funções sintáticas de complemento direto e de complemento indireto. Esta investigação teve por base dois guiões de exploração, um para cada uma das funções sintáticas a estudar. Cada um desses guiões foi organizado tendo por base a literatura específica das oficinas de gramática e da aprendizagem ativa pela descoberta. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é entender até que ponto esta metodologia pode contribuir para a sedimentação de conhecimentos e, principalmente, aumentar o gosto pela gramática

O social media marketing na indústria musical : case-study Miley Cyrus

Com a propagação da internet, houve um constante readaptar dos modelos de negócio da indústria musical em contextos de Web 2.0 surgindo, no social media, um novo tipo de consumidores, práticas e comunidades que desempenham um incontornável papel de passa-palavra e co-criação de valor simbólico aos bens desta indústria. Focando o presente estudo num case-study da cantora Miley Cyrus pretende-se cartografar e analisar o fluxo de comunicação e estratégias promocionais nestas plataformas, incidindo em quatro das redes sociais oficiais online da cantora (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram e YouTube/VEVO) como exemplo ilustrativo da importância do marketing online nesta indústria. Esta análise averiguou igualmente as sinergias entre as quatro redes sociais mencionadas e o respectivo impacto e interacções do e com o público para com os vários conteúdos. Verificou-se aqui um padrão de feedback claramente incidente no poder da imagem (estando no top a imagem em movimento e aliada ao som – o(s) videoclip(s), seguida da imagem estática – a fotografia) e, por sua vez, uma reapropriação de estratégias tradicionais a um novo contexto online, surgindo o social media marketing como um novo elemento promocional que, enquanto nova ferramenta de promoção, maximiza a exposição e vendas de bens simbólicos como os da indústria em análise.With the widespread use of the Internet came along a continual adjustment of the music industry’s business models in the Web 2.0 context, setting the ground for the advance, in social media, of a new type of consumers, practices and communities that play an essential role as word-of-mouth and co-creation of symbolic value to the industry’s goods. Focusing the present analysis on a casestudy of the singer Miley Cyrus, it is our intention to map and analyse the flow of communication and promotional strategies deriving from these platforms, particularly focusing on four official online social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube/VEVO) as an illustrative example of the importance of online marketing in this industry. This analysis also examined the synergies among these four social networks and the impact and interactions of and with the public towards the various contents. We show that there is a clear pattern of feedback akin to the power of image (firstly music video and followed by pictures) and, additionally, an appropriation of traditional strategies to a new online context, in which social media marketing rises as a new promotional element that, while being a new promotional tool still maximizes the exposure and symbolic goods sales as those in the industry analysed

EDUCAÇÃO E A DEFESA DO CONHECIMENTO NO ENSINO ESCOLAR EM MOÇAMBIQUE:: UMA ANÁLISE HISTÓRICO-CRÍTICA

The content of this study revolves around education and the defense of knowledge in school education in Mozambique, highlighting the social function of the school and the relevance of knowledge developed in the full intellectual formation and full humanization of man. One of the problems of education today has to do with the marginalization of school content and knowledge, the deviation from the social function of the school, educational practices, inequalities in access to elaborated knowledge, among others that contribute to school failure - Mozambique is not exception. In this way, we seek to rescue the contributions of historical-critical pedagogy, a theoretical conception of Marxist orientation, which defends the adequate transmission of school knowledge as a social function of the school. Thus, educational work must, through elaborated knowledge, meet the interests of the oppressed.O conteúdo deste estudo gira a volta da educação e a defesa do conhecimento no ensino escolar em Moçambique, destacando a função social da escola e a pertinência do conhecimento elaborado na plena formação intelectual e na plena humanização do homem. Um dos problemas da educação na atualidade tem haver com a marginalização dos conteúdos escolares e do conhecimento, o desvio da função social da escola, das práticas educativas, as desigualdades no acesso ao saber elaborado, entre outros que contribuem no insucesso escolar - Moçambique não é exceção. Procuramos dessa forma, resgatar as contribuições da pedagogia histórico-crítica, uma concepção teórica de orientação marxista, que defende como função social da escola a adequada transmissão do saber escolar. Desenvolvimento de um sistema de monitorização da pressão em almofadas anti-escaras

As úlceras por pressão são um problema ao nível das instituições de saúde. É uma problemática que, ainda nos dias de hoje afeta muitas pessoas, principalmente, idosos e paralisados. Esta condição médica está relacionada com uma taxa de mortalidade elevada, o que torna um assunto merecedor de atenção. Apesar de existirem métodos capazes de combater/prevenir esta situação, existem algumas lacunas com estes instrumentos. O âmbito da monitorização é a lacuna explorada por este projeto. Este projeto pretende criar um dispositivo eletrónico capaz de monitorizar a pressão imposta nas almofadas anti-escaras. Neste documento estão descritos os vários passos para a concretização do dispositivo que dá resposta ao objetivo assumido. O esquema do dispositivo é simples, um sensor de pressão lê a grandeza de entrada, em seguida um filtro passa baixo reduz o ruído presente no sinal, o microcontrolador lê e interpreta o sinal recebido e envia a informação para um display. Os vários componentes eletrónicos estão caracterizados e explicados como funcionam e porque é que foram escolhidos. Por fim, é descrito como é que foi feita a calibração do sensor assim como a programação do sistema. O resultado final é um protótipo funcional. O sistema é capaz de ler e transmitir a pressão de uma almofada anti-escaras. O documento aborda, também, um possível caminho para melhorar o desempenho do dispositivo, de maneira a torná-lo numa ajuda ainda melhor no combate a esta problemática que são as úlceras por pressão
